KIEV, Ukraine (CNN) -- In response to an electrical failure, the last remaining operative reactor at the Chernobyl nuclear plant automatically shut down on Sunday, the plant's public affairs office announced.
"Radiation levels at the station and around the reactor did not change," the office said. The statement added that the shutdown is expected to last three days.
A different reactor at the plant exploded and burned in 1986 in the world's worst nuclear accident.
