If Vernor Vinge and Ray Kurzweil are right, my great-grandchildren will be the first generation of post-humans. They will be 'Singularitarians.' In other words, the Internet may very well BE their life. I only wish I had the Internet in the 1950's, its a great thing for learning. The Internet has had a great impact on our life, as it has reduced the burden of information sharing. My grand child's life will solely depend on the web: we are already witnessing e-this and e-that, they will not be able to do anything without it. The role of the Internet in development cannot be over-emphasized. In the area of education, e-learning is enabling young people to take course which will qualify them as professionals. In investment, from online banking to stock trading to online researches and news digest, the impact of this technological tool cannot be over-emphasized. I believe anything can be used or misused. The Internet will affect future generations by making them more aware of the world, and children will be able to focus on their interests from an early age and thus it will help them make a better future for themselves. To my great grand children Internet will be like drinking water and their life will depend wholly on the Internet, just like we all depend on water to survive. I believe that in the future, humans will be inseparable from the Internet, where every single human being is connected to the www, either with implants or through mobile devices.
