(CNN) -- Penalty shootouts -- great drama, enormous tension, huge entertainment. But are they fair? CNN's Richard Quest asked for your ideas on alternative ways to settle a World Cup deadlock. You can have your say by mailing quest@cnn.com.

If the teams are equal on goals, then count the corner kicks. If they are equal on corners, count the free kicks. If they are equal on free kicks, count the throw-ins. If they are equal on throw-ins, keep playing until something happens. Ken Rolls, Australia

At full time, each side withdraws 5 outfield players. The remaining 5 plus the goalie play for 5 minutes. Then the "rested" 5 players come on again and the exhausted first 5 go off. Matches might finish with a small cricket score, but they would not be drawn. John Linton

Sudden death overtime, until one side or the other scores, is the way to go. If the game drags on for hours then one side or the other will eventually collapse, the other side will score and everyone can go home (if they haven't already). Mike Montesa
